Packing List: What to Bring to Roatán

Planning a trip to Roatan? Packing the right essentials can make all the difference in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience on this beautiful Caribbean island. 

Whether you're coming for the pristine beaches, world-class diving, or lush tropical adventures, you'll want to be prepared for the climate, activities, and local conditions. From reef-safe sunscreen and lightweight clothing to snorkeling gear and insect repellent, we've put together a comprehensive list to help you pack smart and make the most of your Roatan getaway.

Planning Essentials

Passport: Ensure it's valid for at least six months beyond your trip.

Travel insurance: Print out a copy and keep it with you.

Cash: Bring USD - clean bills, no rips or tears. See more on our page about currency and cash.

Credit/Debit cards: Notify your bank of your travel plans. A credit card should be used vs. a debit card when traveling abroad. Double-check for foreign transaction fees on the card you will be using; use a card that doesn't include foreign transaction fees.

Flight tickets and itinerary.

Power Travel adapter: Roatan uses type A and B plugs - same as the US. Adapters aren't needed if arriving from North America.

Clothing

Lightweight quick dry t-shirts and tank tops: Choose breathable fabrics.

Swim/Sun Shirts with built in SPF/Rash Guards

Shorts, skirts, and dresses: Comfortable and easy to wear.

Swimwear: At least two sets to alternate.

Cover-ups: For when you're out of the water.

Light jacket or sweater: Evenings can be cooler.

Comfortable sandals and flip-flops.

Walking shoes: For excursions and exploring.

Wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses: Protect yourself from the sun.

Underwear and socks: Pack enough for the duration of your trip.

Light rain jacket: Just in case.

Snorkeling gear: Mask, snorkel, and fins, if you prefer your own. When you stay at Dakota Breeze, we do have some available for use at the home.

Waterproof dry bag: For keeping valuables safe and dry.

Reef-safe sunscreen: Protect the coral reefs while protecting yourself.

Water shoes: Protect your feet from sharp rocks and coral.


Health and Safety

Sunblock: High SPF, waterproof.

Bug spray: DEET or natural repellents.

First aid kit: Pain relievers, anti-diarrheal pills, antiseptic wipes, bandages.

Personal medications: Along with copies of prescriptions.

Hand sanitizer and wet wipes.


Toiletries

Toothbrush and toothpaste.

Deodorant.

Hairbrush or comb.

Razor and shaving cream.

Makeup and makeup remover.
